Introduction to Brioche
Saturday, April 14, 2018; 1:00 to 3:00pm
The focus of this class will be one-colour brioche worked flat and in the round. We'll talk about how/why it works, learn the basic stitches, and work two swatches before casting on a one-colour scarf. We'll briefly look at shaping and two-colour brioche.
Knitters interested in this class should be at least enthusiastic beginners and comfortable with cast-on, bind-off, knit and purl.
Materials: For the swatches: 20-25g of DK weight yarn and 4.5mm needles (short straight or 24" circular) for the swatches. For the scarf: 100g DK weight for a scarf approx. 6" wide x 45" long, same needles OR for a cowl 100g DK weight yarn and 24" circular 4.5mm needle

Introduction to Sock Knitting

Have a Yarn is a haven for sock knitters looking for a colourful stock of sock yarn. This day-long class will guide you through the steps of knitting a basic cuff down sock including long-tail cast on, heel flap and heel turn, picking up gusset stitches, and the star toe.
All materials included.
Introduction to Knitting Colour Patterns
Saturday, April 28, 2018: 10:00am to 4:00pm - $40
In this class we will learn how to handle 2 colours of yarn and follow a chart to create a headband with the colour pattern pictured to the right. The basics of knitting with 2 yarns, adding a new colour, and following a chart will be covered.
Materials: 16" 4.5mm circulars, 2 contrasting colours of worsted weight yarn (50g or less of each is all that is needed), 5 stitch markers. All supplies can be purchsed here at Have a Yarn before the class begins if necessary.
